ON January 24th, the OPA released its summary of applications received for the most recent Procurement round for renewable energy generation projects, also known as FIT 3. It is important to keep in mind that the applications are still under review for completeness and eligibility. The following is from the OPA website:
“During the most recent FIT 3 application window from November 4 to December 13, 2013, the OPA received 1,982 applications representing a total of 493.71 megawatts (MW). These applications are for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, waterpower and bioenergy) with a proposed capacity of more than 10 kilowatts (kW) and generally up to 500 kW. The OPA received applications with Aboriginal community participation (30.8 percent of net applications), municipal and public sector participation (26.9 percent) and community participation (11.7 percent). More than 75 percent of applications are for rooftop solar projects.”
A total of 279.85MW of Solar (PV) (Rooftop) applications were submitted, and a total of 130.34MW of Solar (PV)(Non-Rooftop) applications were submitted. Non-Solar (PV) applications totalled 26.05MW.
There were 131.25MW of FIT applications for 41.833MW of capacity set out in the Procurement Target for Municipal Projects.
There were 47.34MW of FIT applications for 20.916MW of capacity set out in the Procurement Target for Community CCSA Projects.
