Bluewater Energy is the First in Canada to Install Multiple Powerwall 2.0!
Bluewater Energy recently became the first in Canada to install multiple Powerwall 2.0s, Tesla’s new energy storage system. If you haven’t heard already, as a licensed electrical contractor with licensed electricians as part of our Bluewater Energy team, we have been chosen to deliver Tesla Powerwall solutions after the completion of extensive Tesla Powerwall and MPOWER training.
What does this mean for you? We can order Tesla Powerwalls for you, perform site visits, provide you with solar solutions, and install everything at once – all under one roof! We deliver integrated renewable energy services and solutions to homeowners and small businesses. So how does an installation look? Here’s a brief overview of our first install of multiple Powerwall 2.0s:
CUSTOMER PROFILE: Parry Sound, Ontario
# POWERWALLS: 3!
USE CASES: Load shifting and backup.
1) Load shifting: Allows this family to store energy into the Powerwalls when prices are low and to use the stored energy when prices are high.
2) Backup: There is a 100A backup panel which houses all the essential electrical loads this family has chosen during their initial site visit with us. The 3 Powerwalls backup these loads should there be a power outage.
It just so happens that right after the Powerwall 2.0s were installed, a storm arrived suddenly and knocked the power out at this client’s residence for 20 hours! However, they were not left in the dark but instead, were fully backed up with power the entire time. Imagine what it would have been like to be powerless for 20 hours without a battery backup plan in place – scary!
SOLAR: No, but Powerwall can be integrated with existing solar systems. We can also provide you with designs and quotes for a new solar installation to make it even more powerful!
Please note that currently, the Tesla Solar Tiles are not available in Canada until some time in 2018. If you want to be the first to know and receive the latest updates, feel free to sign up for our business newsletter (if you haven’t already!).
This client has chosen to stand their Powerwalls separately so all 3 can be seen instead of burying them one behind the other.
Tesla provides a stacking kit that allows you to stack up to 3 Powerwalls together. You can integrate up to 4 Powerwalls into your property, but you may integrate up to 10 Powerwalls eventually. Choosing to stack your Powerwalls will help reduce the amount of floor space required.
If you have wall space, Powerwall can also be wall-mounted. However, if you choose to mount them on a wall, they cannot be stacked together.
Here is what the 100 amp backup panel (top left box) looks like next to the main electrical panel (top right box). The grey box on the bottom is the Backup Gateway. This allows you to receive online updates for your Powerwall and to connect to the Tesla Motors app to monitor and control your Powerwall(s).
